Professional Experiences
Triboro Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation
As a Dietary Technician at a large facility with over 400 beds, I have the opportunity to work alongside an RD with over two decades of experience. I am trusted to conduct quarterly and annual nutrition assessments, fill out MDS forms, maintain updated care plans, and attend weekly interdisciplinary meetings. I also see patients upon admission to learn about their individual food needs and preferences.
NYC Food Policy Center
Working with Dr. Charles Platkin PhD, JD, MPH and associates, I helped conduct a research survey aimed at comparing the behavior, attitude, and knowledge of the populations living in East Harlem and the Upper East Side of Manhattan. There is a stark difference in the prevalence of obesity and disease in these populations. Results of the study can shed light on the possible reasons for these discrepancies.
I am also working with Dr. Platkin on developing a mobile app called WorkLunch, which will help promote behavior change through creative games in which points are earned as health awareness is increased.
Temple University Cancer Research Training Program
As one of five students chosen to partake in the program, I worked under the mentorship of Dr. Grace Ma and Dr. Zhengyu Wei at the Center for Asian Health in Philadelphia, where I conducted a pilot study to determine the health effects of nail salon chemicals on workers in the industry. During the 4 week program, I was able to complete a thorough literature review, develop interview and educational materials, and conduct interviews with local nail salon workers with the help of a translator. At the end of the program, I presented findings in the first annual Training Institute Research Conference. Read my review paper, attached below!
Sephardic Bikur Holim (SBH) Food Pantry
For my undergraduate fieldwork, I worked with one of the largest non-profit charities in my community to help maintain adequate stock in the food pantry that is used by over 500 impoverished families. Working with the directors of SBH, I helped establish the Food Pantry Fill Up program, in which restaurants, caterers, and food vendors would receive free widespread community advertising in exchange for donations of unwanted food. The program took a lot of work to get started but has grown to be a huge success.
In our efforts to secure food donations to the SBH Food Pantry, I attended the International Restaurant and Foodservice show at the Javits Center, where I was able to make connections with hundreds of food vendors over the 3 days.
I worked with the New York Blood Center organizing and marketing a community blood drive where over 70 pints of blood were donated!
I helped organize and implement a cooking class at the local community center, baking over 500 traditional Syrian pastries for the SBH Food Pantry

Nail Salon Workers’ Health Risks and Effects of Interventions: A Review
My Resume
Beth Warren Nutrition
Interning at a private practice in Brooklyn, I gained an understanding of the scope of influence I can have as an RD. Beth Warren, MS, RD, CDN allowed me to sit in on consultations with clients, many of which were battling chronic diseases and trying to incorporate nutritional interventions into their treatments. I was also responsible for writing blog posts and putting together email newsletters, providing the public with useful nutrition information as well as cooking tips. Additionally, I helped market many of Beth Warren's talks and conferences.
Morris Franco Cancer Center
I started at the Morris Franco Cancer Center as a general volunteer, helping to spread love and joy to the cancer patients by visiting them, distributing gifts, and accompanying them on trips. After learning about a collaboration with Beth Warren MS, RD, CDN, in which she would implement a New American Plate challenge to help improve nutrition related behaviors of a group of cancer patients, I joined the initiative and worked on the project for 8 weeks. During this time, I was tasked with choosing which nutrition information would be most helpful for the patients. I also helped with taking anthropometric measures of the patients each week, and answering individual questions. Receiving feedback on their progress each week made this an extremely rewarding experience.
